Architecture + Green Building

Poster Frost Mirto specializes in architecture for communities - neighborhood centers, multi-family and infill housing, mixed-use developments, and buildings to serve Southern Arizona’s private non-profit organizations. 

Our design expression grows from our understanding of the Sonoran Desert climate and from the urban traditions of the Arizona-Sonora borderlands.  Shade (how a building stands in the sun), courtyards (usable outdoor spaces), and landscape (integrating with desert plant material) are all hallmarks of our work.  We believe this design approach creates regional architecture with integrity - unique to its time, place, and use - and fosters sustainable design that is in harmony with nature and connected to the land.

Poster Frost is LEED accredited and committed to passive solar design, rehabilitation and adaptive reuse, local and vernacular materials and crafts, water conservation and reuse, alternative modes of transportation, and environmentally sensitive Sonoran Desert design.

2005-2008.  Ellie Towne Community Center, Flowing Wells Neighborhood, Tucson, AZ.  Pima County.  Planning, design, and construction services for new 20,000 SF community center.

2004-2006.  Tohono O’Odham Recreation Centers, San Xavier, Pisinemo, Hickiwan, and Sells, AZ.  Tohono O’Odham Nation.  Design and construction services for five new recreation centers in collaboration with David Sloan Architects.

2007-2008.  Tucson High Magnet School – PE Facilities Improvements, Tucson, AZ.  Tucson Unified School District.  Feasibility study, master plan, and design and construction services for rehabilitation to historic 1938 Roy Place Gymnasium, new practice gym, and new parking structure.

2005-2007.  La Paloma Mixed-Use, Tucson, AZ.  La Paloma Family Services.  Planning, design, and construction services for 20,000 SF mixed-use project including administrative offices, group housing for at risk teen mothers, and a charter school.

2007.  124 east Broadway / Tucson Community Cable Corporation, Tucson, AZ.  Programming and preliminary planning for rehabilitation to historic structure.
